The Achtcijfers scanner
achtcijfers-scanner in your logs? That's us. Here is what the scanner reads and how to keep your domain out.Updated 24 October 2026
What the scanner is
Achtcijfers shows what a company does and uses, under its KVK number. For that, our scanner looks at Dutch websites the way a visitor sees them.
You can tell it by this user agent:
achtcijfers-scanner/0.1 (+https://achtcijfers.nl/scanner; abuse: [abuse-adres])
We are still choosing the abuse address. Until then it is shown here in brackets.
What the scanner reads
A few public pages per site, and no more:
- the start page;
- at most six pages where a company puts its details: contact, about, terms, privacy, imprint, vacancies and team;
- robots.txt and the sitemaps;
- a vacancy feed the site itself links to;
- the domain's DNS records and the site's certificate.
From a team page we only count how many people are on it, without names.
How often and how gently
We look at an active site about once a month. A parked site, or one that doesn't answer, less often.
The scanner sends at most three requests at a time to one server, with a short pause between them. If your server asks us to slow down, with a 429 or a 503, we wait. After that, the server gets one request at a time, at least two seconds apart.
What the scanner never does
- Log in.
- Fill in or submit forms.
- Run JavaScript: it reads the HTML as your server sends it.
- Build profiles of people.
An e-mail address a site hides, for example as info(at)example.nl, is kept only when it is a generic address such as info@. Never a personal one.
robots.txt
The scanner reads your robots.txt and records what it allows. It does not follow it yet.
[Our robots.txt policy, after the legal review.]
Want to be sure we skip your domain? Mail us, as described below.
Keep your domain out
Mail us the domain name. We then stop scanning the domain, its subdomains included, and remove what we have on it.
Mail from an address on that domain if you can. Then we can see the request comes from the owner. We reply within [period].
Is it about your company, under its KVK number? That is on Your company in Achtcijfers.
