Enrich sign-ups

Someone signs up with a business email address. With the domain, you look up which company is behind it.

The problem

A sign-up gives you a name and an email address. Whether it's a webshop or a service provider, what its site runs on and how big the company is, you don't know.

So you ask for it in a longer form, or you look it up later. The first costs sign-ups, the second costs time.

How it works

  1. Take the domain from the email address: [email protected] becomes voorbeeld.nl.
  2. Request the company by that domain. You get the same answer as with the KVK number.
  3. Store the fields with the account, with the KVK number as the key. Then you can request the company again later.
GET /v1/companies?domain=voorbeeld.nl
{  "kvk_number": "00000002",  "name": "Voorbeeld B.V.",  "legal_form": "bv",  "website": "voorbeeld.nl",  "websites": [    "voorbeeld.nl",    "voorbeeldbv.nl"  ],  "webshop": false,  "cms": "WordPress",  "phone": "+31301234567",  "whatsapp": null,  "open_vacancies": 2,  "email_provider": "microsoft",  "known": {    "count": 35,    "total": 39  }}
Example with a fictional company.

No business address

An address at an email provider, such as gmail.com, has no company behind it. Skip those domains before you make a request.

[What the API returns for a domain we don't know.]

What's unknown

A field that is null is one we don't know. Show it as unknown, not as blank or zero. If it matters for your onboarding, ask for it yourself, only in that case.

In the example, whatsapp is unknown. The rest of the form can go.

What it costs

One call per sign-up. If we don't know the domain, or only know the name and address, it costs nothing. See pricing.
